Ministry Team
Rev Henry Swindon
Henry Swindon is a Minister of the Word at Indooroopilly Uniting Church.
He is married to Sue-anne and is the proud father of three daughters Stacey, Migien and Jessica.
Henry took up his placement at Indooroopilly in April 2003.
His previous appointment was at the Pinetown Methodist Church, Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa.
His interests, apart from involvement in church life, lie with family and outdoor activities.
Henry's Personal Mission Statement:
"My purpose in life is to be in a relationship with God that joyfully embraces God’s gift of life in Jesus Christ.
I will seek to share this gift with others, especially those whose lives have been diminished by the ravages of this world.
I will proactively pursue a Christ-centred life and ministry that seeks to be a sign of God’s Grace;
I will seek to cultivate the experience of caring community through encouraging positive and empowering relationships;
As a matter of first priority, I will grow my relationship with my wife and children, always striving to act in their best interests and giving them the best of my time.
I will venture out of my comfort zone with a risk-taking faith that seeks to engage the needs of society in a relevant and creative way;
I will seek to be an agent of compassion and justice, acting in the interests of those whose lives have been violated and exploited;
I will seek to hold the contemplative and social justice emphases of faith in creative tension; linking prayer and action in the one dance of faith and life.
I will dedicate myself to nurturing the vitality of the local congregation I serve,
as a fellowship of the Spirit and as a centre for mission;
I will encourage engagement in Christ-centred spiritual growth, caring community, and compassionate service, as essential elements of life in God."
